Seeing a doctor online? Reminders before your video consultation

Seeing a doctor online using a telemedicine platform is a convenient and safe way to get professional medical advice, without leaving your home. Even after the pandemic is over, telemedicine will still play a key role in our healthcare system, serving as the first line of defense whenever Filipinos need to have urgent consultations with a licensed medical professional.

Just like in-person consultations, you should prepare before your online consultations too. Here’s your handy guide to having a smooth video consultation experience using the Doctor Anywhere app.

1. Be prepared

On-demand consultations on the Doctor Anywhere app allow you to speak to a licensed doctor within minutes. With this short waiting time, we encourage you to be as detailed as you can. There’s no such thing as over-preparation with medical consultations. You can also upload relevant medical records before the call to help the doctor understand your situation.

2. Be on time

For scheduled appointments, log in at the exact time of your call. You will see a clickable “Join” button at your scheduled time. If you enter the room late, your doctor may assume that you are not joining the session. As such, late patients may be tagged as no-shows, and you would have to rebook your appointment.

3. Avoid multiple bookings

Our doctors are always here for you, so don’t worry about finding a doctor that can attend to your concern. Please book one appointment per doctor at a time for the same medical concern to avoid appointment cancellations with other doctors.

4. Avoid last-minute cancellations

Last-minute cancellations are unpleasant for both patients and doctors. If you need to reschedule, please do so at least 4 hours before your appointment. This way, other patients may book the same doctor at your previous time slot.

5. Pick a quiet environment

When it’s time to meet with your doctor, it’s recommended that you take the call in a quiet room where you can hear and see each other properly. This will ensure smooth communication and allow your doctor to diagnose or explain possible conditions accurately.

6. Check your internet connection

Doctor Anywhere has an in-app Video Call Test function. For best results, ensure that you are not experiencing network interruptions on the day of your consultation. Network problems may cause you or the doctor not to see or hear each other well, which could impact the quality of your teleconsultation.

Teleconsultations are here to stay. With Doctor Anywhere, you can see a GP on-demand in 5 minutes or less; or book an appointment at your preferred time. You also have the option to purchase medication on the app, and enjoy free delivery within 24 hours if you’re based in Metro Manila. Download the DA app today.
